If you’re looking for an authentic slice of bucolic bliss tucked away in the Mallorcan countryside, this beautifully converted farmhouse offers just that. It combines heaps of rustic appeal with modern comforts and holiday-ready facilities surrounded by scenic campo. Despite its sense of seclusion, you’re just half an hour from Palma Airport, as well as an easy drive from pretty villages and some of the island’s most stunning stretches of sandy coastline.
The Design
With its glowing honey-hued stone, perfectly preserved rustic character and secluded rural setting, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more charming country-style villa than this. The Swedish couple owners have renovated this 300-year-old former farmhouse with sensitivity and style throughout. Outside sky-blue shutters complement splashes of hot pink bougainvillea, while inside exposed beams, chunky wooden doors and whitewashed plaster create a truly cosy country feel.
Originally designed as a B&B, each of the five bedrooms has its own ensuite bathroom and living room. Each room is also named after the owners’ favourite animals such as Hippo, which is the villa’s spacious master suite. Two of the rooms, Armadillo and Giraffe, also have their own terrace and entrance. The villa also has plenty of seating areas both inside and out, including a small library, living room with an open fire, and various tranquil spots to enjoy a book or quiet cup of coffee.
The Details
The villa boasts particularly lovely sun-drenched terraces and gardens, including several orange and clementine trees and various fragrant herbs. Guests are welcome to help themselves and are encouraged to try freshly squeezed orange juice straight from the tree. The outside also features a 5×10 metre pool for cooling dips, and just steps away is an alfresco kitchen with a gas barbecue and covered dining area perfect for lingering poolside lunches. There’s a large outdoor garden jacuzzi, and even a yurt perfect for yoga or just somewhere to play away from the sun.
Of course, indoors you’ll also find a modern fully equipped kitchen with a double oven and large fridges, ideal for large groups. Guests are also welcome to help themselves to the honour bar (and just replace it with something nice). Bluetooth speakers mean you can listen to your holiday playlists wherever you are around the property. And if you’re keen to explore the scenic surroundings, you have use of four mountain bikes (including a small one for kids).
