Useful Info

What makes Quindío different from other destinations in Colombia?

Quindío is Colombia’s smallest mainland state and located in the heart of the lush green coffee-growing region. It makes up one third of The Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia (CCLC), which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. This region is known for its patchwork of small coffee farms (known as ‘fincas’) as well as its high Andean valleys, some of which are lined with wax palms, the tallest type of palm tree in the world. Throughout the region there are a number of pretty small towns such as Salento and Filandia which are rich in culture and craft.

How do you get to Quindío from Bogotá or Medellín?

El Edén Airport (AXM) in Armenia serves the Quindío region and is approximately a one-hour drive from Maven Collection’s Finca Quindío. El Edén Airport has direct flights to Bogotá and Medellín and can be reached in one-hour. Both Bogotá and Medellín have connecting flights to Cartagena as well and international routes onwards to states in North America such as Florida and Colorado as well as access to Europe. When you select a Maven Collection villa, we can help check the best airport and provide tips on travel to the Quindío region and beyond.

What is there to do in Quindío?

Getaways to Quindío revolve around nature, relaxing and small town exploration. You can hike and horseback ride through the Andean valleys as well as embark on walking tours and visits to the region’s many coffee plantations where you can watch the beans being harvested. Meanwhile, there are many towns to visit, including Salento and Filandia, with colourful colonial-era architecture and craft workshops.
