Rolling hills and characterful countryside villas in Colombia’s coffee region.
Colombia’s littlest state packs a punch. In Quindío, lush green valleys lead to misty, snow-capped mountains and in culture-rich towns, sherbet-toned houses and candy-stripe churches sit alongside salsa-playing coffee shops.
Making up one third of the country’s UNESCO-protected Coffee Cultural Landscape, this is the beating heart of rural Colombia. Naturally, it makes sense to enjoy this wild paradise with a farmstay, and we have one very special property here, Finca Quindío.
Finca Quindío, Quindío
After the heat of the Caribbean coast and the high energy of Medellin, the coffee region of Quindío brings cool nights and a calm pace.
This is a rural landscape best experienced immersed in nature. Our one property here, an ecological finca, places you in the heart of a working farm. Cows roam the grounds, there’s picked guayabas, mangos and papayas for breakfast and an array of outdoor spaces set up for meals enjoying the wilderness.
Quindío is the heart of Colombia’s coffee country with rolling green hills, wax palms and working coffee farms. Our team connects you to the region’s growers, trails and quiet mountain pace.
At Maven Collection, we deliberately keep our portfolio of villas small and handpick properties that are really special. We have just one villa in this region of Colombia, Finca Quindío, and it’s truly remarkable. This home is all about connection with nature. The property is set on a beautiful working farm with its own natural pool, horses available for rides and food grown on site.
Built in the style of a Japanese tea house with sliding panelled doors and bamboo ceilings, the areas of the four bedroom property are interconnected by pretty walkways and internal patios. Ceramics are hand-painted by the owner and wall-hung textiles and bedspreads are handwoven by Colombian indigenous artisans.
With a fully staffed offering, there is a daily maid service and breakfast as standard with a private chef available. Meanwhile, there is also a driver available to take you around the region and enjoy some of the produce this area has to offer including coffee, cacao and wine.
Finca Quindio, Colombia
Quindío is Colombia’s smallest mainland state and located in the heart of the lush green coffee-growing region. It makes up one third of The Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia (CCLC), which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. This region is known for its patchwork of small coffee farms (known as ‘fincas’) as well as its high Andean valleys, some of which are lined with wax palms, the tallest type of palm tree in the world. Throughout the region there are a number of pretty small towns such as Salento and Filandia which are rich in culture and craft.
El Edén Airport (AXM) in Armenia serves the Quindío region and is approximately a one-hour drive from Maven Collection’s Finca Quindío. El Edén Airport has direct flights to Bogotá and Medellín and can be reached in one-hour. Both Bogotá and Medellín have connecting flights to Cartagena as well and international routes onwards to states in North America such as Florida and Colorado as well as access to Europe. When you select a Maven Collection villa, we can help check the best airport and provide tips on travel to the Quindío region and beyond.
Getaways to Quindío revolve around nature, relaxing and small town exploration. You can hike and horseback ride through the Andean valleys as well as embark on walking tours and visits to the region’s many coffee plantations where you can watch the beans being harvested. Meanwhile, there are many towns to visit, including Salento and Filandia, with colourful colonial-era architecture and craft workshops.
Yes, Quindío is suitable for vacations for both families or groups of friends. The varied range of activities on offer suits multi-generational trips of group holidays as there is something for everyone. Choosing a luxury villa is the most comfortable option for families or groups with plenty of space for guests to spread out and come together in privacy.
Our luxury villa Quindio gives you space and privacy to enjoy the laidback pace and relaxation of this region. Set amongst nature and boasting beautiful views, here comfort meets style.
December to January and July to August offer the driest and sunniest weather perfect for clear views, hiking and visiting coffee farms. Alternatively, March to May and October to November bring wetter weather which means quieter crowds and lush landscapes but daily afternoon rain is likely.
If you are searching for travel inspiration and looking to continue your luxury stay in Colombia, we can book trusted itineraries that take you beyond Finca Quindio with vacation rentals across the country.
