Formentera's Best Restaurants

Perhaps our favourite of Formentera’s restaurants, Es Molí de Sal gets its name from its original incarnation as a salt mill. It’s set high up on a rocky outcrop just south of Playa de Ses Illetes with superb vistas up and down the coast. Their menu features all the traditional classics, from calamares to croquettes, but cooked to a very high standard. Don’t miss the simple-yet-outrageously-good vanilla and chocolate sauce for dessert, and afterwards flop on their chill-out deck to catch the spectacular sunset.

With seasoned Spanish chef Nandu Jubany at the helm, it’s no wonder Es Codol Forgat is the foodies’ choice. His son also did a great job on the interior design, hitting that chiringuito-deluxe vibe bang on. A mouthwateringly assured menu draws from a mix of island traditions and Spanish favourites, with the obligatory leaning towards the fruits of the sea. After lunch, the tiny cove here makes the perfect spot for a post-meal siesta besides some of the clearest waters on the island.
