October brings a different type of traveller to Ibiza and aficionados know this time of year is the true sweet spot to visit. When the hectic crowds and high temperatures of the peak summer season have died down, you can enjoy all the island has to offer at a slower pace with the days still mild and the sea still warm.
While the main tourist season might be over, Ibiza in October still feels lively, albeit with a more local feel. Restaurants make the most of quieter months with fun collaborations, wellness ramps up thanks to cooler temperatures and there are still a few end of season parties for those looking for some classic Ibiza moments.
October is our favourite month to visit the island with its quieter crowds, warm weather and local feel.
One of the main reasons October is a good time to visit Ibiza is the weather. Days are still sunny and warm without the high temperatures of summer while nights start to feel cosy. The sea is particularly alluring at this time of year, still warm enough for dips after a long summer of warming up.
Once the crowds of peak summer have thinned, the island is much easier to navigate with parking easier and roads calmer. In October, you have plenty of space to spread out on those popular beaches and reservations at dining hot spots are much easier to come by.
Planning ahead isn’t so necessary and days can be approached more spontaneously.
While some seasonal spots do shut during October, Ibiza doesn’t fully close down in the autumn. The start of October tends to be busier than the end as some businesses wind down throughout the month but there are plenty of local spots to enjoy that stay open well into the winter.
With its west-facing coastline, Ibiza has long been known for its legendary sunsets. Watching the sun drop into the Mediterranean is a daily ritual and come October, sunsets in Ibiza feel even more special with the soft, autumn light. Even better, you don’t have to fight anyone for a car parking space or get there extra early to guarantee a good spot.
In our many years living in Ibiza, we have tried and tested many sunset spots and have three go-tos we come back to, time and time again.
Just north of Sant Antoni, this cove is backed with terraced rocks that make the perfect steps to sit on and watch the sunset. With pristine water, arrive early for a pre-sunset swim off the rocks.
On Sundays, this sandy cove on the north of the island is the place to be thanks to the legendary drummers that perform here each week. Our favourite way to end the week is to order a takeaway pizza and pina colada and enjoy it on the beach here while the sun sets.
Watching the sun set over Es Vedrà is an iconic Ibiza moment and one that draws serious crowds come summer. However, in October it’s much more peaceful and laid back. We like to head to El Carmen on Cala D’Hort for a long paella lunch on the beach, take a siesta on the sand and wake up to enjoy the epic sunset.
If you’re looking for things to do in Ibiza come October, making the most of the island’s spectacular landscapes should be your first port of call. With the temperatures starting to cool down, October really is the best time of year to get out and enjoy the abundance of nature.
Of course, you do get the odd rainy day so it’s best to check the forecast but when the weather is settled and sunny, October is perfect for beach days. After all, the sea has held its summer warmth and is perfect for swimming. Meanwhile, for those who fancy an active day on the water, kayaking trips are a fun way to experience the coastline from a different perspective and reach hidden beaches and coves.
Hiking is gorgeous at this time of year with cooler temperatures making longer routes more comfortable. The island has a fantastic network of hiking paths across pine-covered headlands and sweeping coastal views.
While Ibiza has always had a strong bohemian spirit, the wellness scene has exploded over the last few years. After a hectic summer, October is the perfect point to slow down and embrace the island’s ever-growing wellness offerings.
Living here year-round in Ibiza, we love how the wellness scene has really exploded here in the last few years. First up, there’s been an influx of wellness clubs to the island. There was Soho Farmhouse Ibiza which opened in 2025 but this year there are two other spots that have become regulars for us. URĀ Wellness Club is amazing for all things wellness. It’s got a great hot/cold circuit with saunas and ice baths as well as sound baths, breathwork, reformer pilates and more. Meanwhile, we’re excited about the new SAWA for its racquet sports – there’s tennis, padel and pickleball alongside a really great social and family offering including a dedicated year-round kids’ club.
Plus, boutique fitness classes on the island are really rivaling big mainland cities these days. We’re big fans of Oranja who host regular outdoor spinning sessions in a stunning orange orchard and have a packed events agenda with both spinning and strength classes popping up across the island at places like Six Senses and Nobu Hotel.
Ibiza’s energy has always drawn yogis and the October weather is perfect for making the most of the thriving yoga scene. We absolutely love Charlotte Wylder’s classes – catch her at Soho Farmhouse, or URA, or try her infrared sessions at Yours. Meanwhile, the yoga shala nestled in nature at Xereca Hotel has a great programme in partnership with AWA yoga.
If a restorative Ibiza trip is calling, we can arrange private wellness retreats at our villas. Whether you are looking for something solo or with a group, we can put together a schedule of wellness activities using our favourite practitioners on the island from yoga and massage to breathwork and hikes.
Ibiza’s little sister has long held a hideaway charm. However, once the peak summer pressure lifts, Formentera is arguably its most magnificent. On sunny October days, you will have the paradise beaches all to yourself. Think long stretches of blond white sand and truly turquoise water that seriously gives the Caribbean a run for its money.
Autumn on the littlest Baleriac is when this island really reverts to its wild and quiet ways. Some of the buzzier lunch spots may be closed but you’ll still find local-feel restaurants open and it’s the perfect time to explore inland villages like Sant Francesc. Don’t skip a meal at Can Carlos if you’re there.
This is the perfect season to truly slow down and immerse yourself in nature whether it’s hiking across the island or long, lazy days at the beach. Plus, there’s some great yoga classes running on Formentera until the end of October too. We’re fans of Obak Wellness classes at Hotel Casbah and Yiannis Mukta Om’s classes at Gecko Beach.
Whether you want to take a day trip from Ibiza or spend a few more days embracing the stillness, Maven can help with both boat logistics and villa stays in Formentera.
One of our favourite things about living in Ibiza is the island’s markets. When the busy summer months have died down, we love slow days mooching between markets, picking up produce or hunting for vintage pieces. While Ibiza has its fair share of hippy markets, these tend to be pretty touristy. Instead, these three markets are the ones locals really go to.
Ibiza’s proper second-hand flea market takes place every Saturday morning at the old Hipódromo de Sant Jordi, close to Ibiza Town. It’s a real vibe here off-season and we love coming to hunt for vintage clothes and second-hand homeware items. We have found some real gems over the years.
Part artisan market, part cultural venue, Las Dalias in Sant Carles is open all year and a great one to have on your radar for October. Plus, check out the agenda for Akasha, the indoor club and music space inside the market which has a great line-up of DJs throughout the autumn.
Ibiza Town’s Covered Market is a real local spot which has been in action in the island’s capital since the 1970s. Head in the morning and have breakfast opposite the market at Maison Savannah before heading in to pick up supplies. We never skip the fresh pasta and Italian treats from Bologna at Casa Boni
In the summer months in Ibiza, restaurants are packed and you need to plan seriously ahead if you want to get reservations at the top tables. However, come October, the pressures have lifted and planning to dine at popular spots can be much more spontaneous. This is the time of year you might actually be able to bag a table at Jondal.
The quieter crowds often mean restaurants and chefs have more time for fun collaborations and one-off menus and you will be dining amongst a more local crowd. These events are constantly changing but some of our favourite restaurants to keep an eye on are Nudo, Hambre, Casa Lhasa, Chidas and Casa Club

Increasingly, the Ibiza club scene extends into October with the super clubs holding their closing party events in mid-October.
Famous parties to look out for include the Circoloco Closing Party at DC10, the [UNVRS] closing party and the Hï Ibiza closing party. This year in particular, the one to watch out for is the 50th Anniversary Closing Festival at Amnesia which will run from 5pm until 12pm the next day – we personally love the sunrise option – or something similar or a bit tongue in cheek or funny about the opening times
In this in-between season, layers are key. Channel an onion and you will be along the right lines! During the day, you will need typical beachwear and swim stuff but it’s always best to pack a light cover-up layer such as a thick shirt or thin knit in case the wind picks up or you end up staying out late. Come evening, a light jacket might be needed. Also, don’t forget trainers or comfortable shoes if you want to head out hiking or try other sports or outdoor activities.
While the summer months might get the most spotlight, October offers the chance to explore Ibiza at that unhurried Mediterranean pace so many of us crave.
This time of year is best experienced in a villa, with time to really slow down and go at your own speed.
