“…you’re immediately struck with the splendour of this villa’s breathtakingly expansive Pacific Ocean panorama.”
Overlooking a virgin stretch of golden-sand Pacific coast, the setting of this luxury villa is genuinely sublime. And the fully-staffed property certainly matches its superb natural surroundings, with wide-open spaces, a long infinity pool and wonderful ocean-view bedrooms. From world-class surfing at nearby Zicatela Beach to whale- and dolphin-watching, there’s no shortage of exciting things to do nearby, too. And when you return, flop in a hammock drink in hand and watch the sun sink down over the shimmering horizon. Casa Zicatela really does offer a rather special slice of seafront magic.
The Design
You enter Casa Zicatela, follow the pebble-mosaic walkway that passes a circular fountain and arrive at the villa’s main living space. It’s then you’re immediately struck with the splendour of this villa’s breathtakingly expansive Pacific Ocean panorama. This cavernous traditional palapa-style space has a wide open side to take full advantage of the showstopper vistas, wherever you are. It also houses a generous lounge area and a long chunky dining table, and extends through to a lovely open fully-equipped kitchen.
The luxury vacation home was completed in 2020, and its palm-front roofing and peach-sand palette blend elegantly with its picturesque beachfront setting. On one wall, a Zen-like waterfall trickles water down the local rock, while the likes of seating, lampshades and rugs are woven from natural fibres. Ceramic handcrafts and colourful artworks are also dotted around the interiors. Outside, beautifully landscaped gardens comprise a tidy lawn, lush tropical flora and tall palm trees swaying in the breeze.
The Details
One highlight of the house is the fabulous infinity-edge pool that extends along most of the garden. At 22 metres/75 feet long, there’s certainly plenty of space to cool off in, as well as being perfect for a morning swim. The poolside terrace is lined with cushioned loungers shaded by parasols to luxuriate on after a dip. You’ll also find a couple of siesta-ready hammocks strung up between the palm trees.
Accommodation takes the form of four fabulous ocean-view bedrooms, two with king-size and two with queen-sized beds, plus a fifth with three bunk beds perfect for the little ones. All feature ensuite bathrooms with rainfall showers, garden windows and big-bottle toiletries.
There are two kitchens, one sea-view for guests and the other for staff, who are on hand to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner. There’s a charcoal-fired barbecue too, perfect for sizzling steaks or local seafood. Bar staff are also available to serve poolside tipples or margarita sundowners. Alternatively, private evening yoga sessions can be arranged in advance.
