ABOUT THE ARTISAN: El Haj is our expert boot and slipper maker located near Souk Cherifa in the Marrakech Medina. He has been making shoes for over 45 years and works with his sons and nephews, running 3 small workshops and a storefront on a busy thoroughfare. His youngest son Khalid just joined the team and works with El Haj tinting the leather and cutting vintage kilims for the Maven kilim boot collection. El Haj's workshop doubles as the social hub of the neighborhood, other merchants and artisans from the neighborhood are always stopping by to play cards, drink tea or watch a soccer match.
